On Call! Hospitality Staffing is always on the lookout for smiling faces attached to great attitudes. Although we prefer our staff to have some experience in hospitality or customer service, we know that you can always teach skills, but you can’t teach a great attitude.

Sterling Service Academy

Before you can begin to work with On Call! you will be required to attend our Sterling Service Academy. This is an orientation and training which will:

  • Explain the origins and philosophies of On Call!
  • Introduce you to the management team
  • Outline the expectations and requirements we have for our team members
  • Explain the basics of how to access StaffMate, our scheduling software, to accept shifts
  • Give you access to the On Call! Time Tracker to record your hours worked
  • Train you, or refresh your skills, in the following:
    • Formal table setting
    • Serving and clearing
    • Wine and beverage pouring
    • Buffet Set-up
    • Proper and safe use of oval trays and tray stands
    • Appetizer passing techniques
    • Basic Bartender Techniques

Personal Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in the hospitality industry OR 1 year of experience in retail or customer service
  • Cooks must have 2 years experience OR be enrolled in, or graduated from, culinary school
  • Servers and cooks must have or obtain current California Food Handlers certification
  • Bartenders must have or obtain current RBS certification
  • Able to work legally in the United States
  • Must have access to the internet, either via phone or computer

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or walk for periods of up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs
  • Must be able to speak and understand basic English
  • Must be willing to work as part of a team
  • Have, or obtain, Black and White Bistro uniforms, including vest, tie and apron
  • Chefs must have, or be willing to obtain, chef’s coat and pants, and full knife kit
  • Bartenders must have, or obtain, a proper bar kit
